Synopsis:

With great power comes great responsibility. - Ben Parker

The final NETS*S standards area reminds teachers that proper use of technology also includes moral obligations. This framework consists of guidelines for professional behavior as well as the proper modelling and instruction of the principles to students.

The abundance of available technological materials should not be taken for granted. The classroom teacher needs to be the authority on the proper practice and display of materials obtained elsewhere. This includes, but is not limited to, appropriate citing of sources and material. Furthermore, educators need to nurture their students use of technology resources. Online etiquette and prudent communication needs to be taught to children just as other skill is.

Additionally, this standards area reminds teachers that they are obliged to use the resources available to meet the diverse needs of students. Technology can be used to give words to those who have no voice and assistance to those who need support. There should be fair sharing of technology assets, not just for a priveledged group.
